Sunday Thoughts
I have never been a good coder, although I was always interested in the subject. I learned “Basic” in my early school years to program my calculator for more complex algebra. After that, I pretty much didn’t use any programming until I had to get my coding skills undusted to become more productive in VBA during my early financial market career days. I hadn’t coded in the past 10 years until I grew curious about Python during the pandemic.
Thanks to the patience and support of one of the stacks long-term members what started as curiosity quickly became an indispensable tool for both risk management and identifying viable strategies in my work.
Before I learned to use Python, I struggled with the limitations of spreadsheets and traditional risk analysis tools. At first, I was sceptical. However, I quickly changed my mind when I saw the power of automated data analysis, allowing me to work more efficiently and comprehensively than ever before. One of the earliest breakthroughs came when I realized that Python allowed me to automate tasks that previously consumed hours of manual labour.
As I grew more comfortable with the language, I began exploring available libraries, which are particularly useful for data manipulation and analysis. Python allowed me to handle much larger datasets than I could in Excel, and I could customize my analyses in ways that were previously impossible. In combination with ChatGPT and Claude, I also had AI help next to me to allow me to adjust codes quicker and learn alongside it.
All this has helped me analyse my strategies and develop new insights. One of those outputs is the Paper Alfa Allocation Model (PAAM), which I have released today. This is just the beginning, and there is much more to come. If you haven’t already, consider joining the pack. Prices will adjust higher as the offering expands. Existing members will keep their rates forever.
Let’s now hear from my friend Macro D and his latest thoughts before we explore the upcoming week’s calendar and 10 charts to consider. As a new section, I will provide the allocation models output for the coming week at the end of this post.
Let’s go!
