Europe's Existential Drift
Part 1
Introduction:
The dialectical dynamic of this piece has no social, moral, or religious pretensions and is therefore not “that of someone who denies the evidence” but rather “that of someone who believes that the truth is much more profound than the evidence that the general narrative recounts daily”.
For some time now, a question haunts my sleepless nights: “Does dear Old Europe have any authority? And if it does, who is its representative?” What might at first glance appear to be a “linguistic subtlety” that only philosophers and political scientists would discuss, in reality, conceals the foundation upon which every institution rests: credibility. Today, Europe is more entangled than ever in numerous problems, including military, economic, social, demographic, and migratory issues, to name just the most significant.
